Release Round Up For 2019
2019 was a creative and productive year at Bricolage...
JANUARY
Sceadu "Once Upon A Future"
We started the year off with apocalyptic ambient soundscapes and frenetic drum n bass on "Once Upon A Future" from the man in the shadows, Sceadu. You can grab the full EP here.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FEBRUARY
No Arrival "Subvert Yourself"
No Arrival returned to Bricolage and brought more digital disorder with him. "Subvert Yourself" is crammed full of his signature rhythmic work and chaotic electronic hybrids. You can grab the full EP here.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MARCH
Loui Cleghorn "Fortysomething"
"Fortysomething" from Loui Cleghorn contained two dark and broody electronica epics. Layers and melodic hooks galore create a hypnotic feel. It came backed with two hand picked, suitably esoteric, remixes from Devras Plexi and Belial Pelegrim. The release garnered support and airplay from DJ duo Kiara Scuro among many others. Grab your copy here.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MAY
Fragile X "The Butterfly Effect"
Label head Fragile X produced a network of complex percussion and an array of splintered sound design on his concept EP, "The Butterfly Effect". Born of a fascination with the chaos theory branch of mathematics this release was also the labels first ever cassette release. You can snag one of the last remaining copies here.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
JUNE
Leit Motif "Bloom"
"Bloom" is a celebration of the summer solstice from Leit Motif. A standalone single that runs at 14 minutes long. It wraps you up in a warm haze of sunshine and melodies. Grab your copy here.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
JUNE
Dark Fidelity Hi Fi "Gentle Static Flow"
In anticipation of the imminent DFHF album "Found" we delivered a reissue of his sought after "Gentle Static Flow" CD from 2018. Warm, nostalgic and engaging trip hop and glitchy ambient tones. We repackaged the digital version to include the previously unreleased track "Pushing Ratios". You can grab your copy here.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
JULY
Dark Fidelity Hi Fi "Found"
After an intense period of hyper creativity Dark Fidelity Hi Fi released the "Found" album in July. A glitch masterpiece full of glistening ambient, IDM, breaks, dub and trip hop that build a textutal labyrinth of sound. Available digitally and on CD format. Few copies remain. Grab yours here.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AUGUST
Devras Plexi and Justin Case "Lotus Eaters"
"Lotus Eaters" brought together two producers from different ends of the spectrum and the world. Local Glasgow boy, Justin Case, provided the obtuse electro/IDM/techno with a knack for warped and bugged out structures. This was counteracted by the dynamic and gloopy sound palette of Austin native, Devras Plexi. Both colourful and glitchy. All those ingredients made for an effervescent split EP. You can grab it here.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AUGUST
0141 "Glasgow Compilation"
'0141' was our nod to our home city. Glasgow's underground electronic scene is bursting at the seems with all manner of artists and sounds. We managed to bring a posse of them together and deliver a diverse collection of music on this compilation. It ranges from ambient to techno and everything in between. The revenue from this album is being donated to the staff at the ICU in the Golden Jubilee Hospital in Clydebank. There's still time to contribute before we hand over the money. Get your copy here.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SEPTEMBER
Ty Lumnus "Decompression"
September saw dusky tonal experiments and and analogue electronics from Ty Lumnus on the "Decompression" EP. Four tracks of spiralling cosmic sounds and sonic decay. Experimental techno from the experienced Glasgow producer. Grab your copy here.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOVEMBER
Belial Pelegrim "Imitation Of Faith"
The electronic wizard that is Belial Pelegrim conjured up a mystical offering of dark matter and and sense altering soundscapes on his "Imitation Of Faith" album. These self described "electro organic" gems are also available on a special limited edition cassette release that comes with a hidden bonus track exclusive from the digital version. You can grab your copy here.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DECEMBER
Yasda "Spektrum"
Our last release of the year sees, Hungarian producer, Yasda take every day sounds and turns them into unique little standalone worlds. Curious compositions full of perplexing rhythms and frayed textures on this beautifully strange collage of found sounds. Grab your copy here.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2020 is shaping up to every bit as eclectic and productive at Bricolage. Stay tuned for updates as we move into a new decade....

0141 (bc048)
Today we celebrated completing our fourth year as a label. It's been a fulfilling and creative 48 months. To mark this years anniversary we decided to bring things back closer to home and have our annual compilation exclusively feature Glasgow artists. We wanted the sounds of the city. The sounds of home.
The result is a diverse collection of electronic music from Glasgow's underbelly. We've called on some label stalwarts to provide us with sounds and also opened up our doors to some new faces. It's a fresh outlook at what's bubbling under the surface and away from the nightclubs and concrete jungle.
There's ambient/drone bliss, haunting pianos and soundscapes, experimental sound collages, challenging noise material, dreamy electronica, acid tinged techno, wonky house, cinematic synthwave. Something for everyone.
We're massively proud of this release and think it paints a beautifully distinct musical picture of the place we call home. It's our homage to our "Dear Green Place".
All revenue generated from the 0141 compilation will be donated to the ICU nursing staff at the Golden Jubilee Hospital as a token of gratitude for the quality of attention and support they provide patients and families in their care.
You can stream/download "0141" below or at our bandcamp.

Devras Plexi and Justin Case "Lotus Eaters"(bc047)
"Lotus Eaters" is the convergence of two like minded but also contrasting producers. Both bring their own unique musical spice to the party and mix it together for one compatible release.
Austin native Devras Plexi ushers in his signature gloopy ambient melodies and glitchy textures. His colourful sound palette and sinewave experimentation is on full show and is complimented by some sweet ruptured rhythms.
Local boy Justin Case keeps the obtuse theme rolling but provides that late night energy with his hybrid take on techno and house that swarms and engulfs both those styles with elements of breaks and IDM. The track structures come loose and warped. Packed with bugged out beats and razor synths that are twisting and turning at every opportunity.
Each with their own vision. The combination of these on form producers creates an assemblage of polychromatic and effervescent sounds.

Bricolage Podcast #47 - Justin Case
Local producer Justin Case is back on podcast duties for Bricolage this month as we prepare to launch his split EP with Austin artist, Devras Plexi. Titled "Lotus Eaters", the collaborative effort will be released on the 2nd of August and contains five tracks apiece from this pair of unparalleled artists. This new mix from Justin Case contains a first listen to one of his own tracks from the upcoming release. "Passaic Formation" opens the podcast proceedings with its drowsy vocals and chaotic scattering backdrop before we head into a musical manifesto that includes all manners of sonic delights ranging from dancefloor weapons, twitchy classics and lo-fi kicks before closing with one of my own personal favourite remixes of all time from Roy Of The Ravers.

In The Loop : Episode 34 (Summer 2019)
This summer is all set to jam packed with on Bricolage. We've got a busy few months coming up with new material, a reissue, a special one off release and podcasts galore.
First up, one week tomorrow, label boss Fragile X returns with his first standalone Bricolage release in just over two years. His new EP "The Butterfly Effect, a concept release based around the chaos theory, is out on cassette and digital on the 31st May.

"The Butterfly Effect" is only our second ever physical release on Bricolage and our first on cassette. It's safe to say we're excited to share it with you. You can pre-order at our bandcamp.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In June, we have a a beautiful hazy summer podcast from Leit Motif to start the month off and that mix will act as a pre-cursor to a very special one off Leit Motif single release later in the month. This unique track is a real melodic treat and kinda top secret but you'll know when it arrives...
Until then, indulge in another Leit Motif slice of melodious ambient.
At the end of the June we have another special release. On the 27th, we have a limited edition CD reissue of the "Gentle Static Flow" album from Manchester's Dark Fidelity Hi Fi. The album is a glitch/ambient masterpiece that was originally self-released in April 2018 and quickly sold out. We've had the disc reprinted and repackaged and good to go for a second run through Bricolage. The new version will be a limited edition release on CD and the accompanying digital version will include 5 bonus tracks. One of which is an unreleased gem.
Pre-order coming soon.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
July sees the follow up to "Gentle Static Flow" in the shape of a brand new album from Dark Fidelity Hi Fi. The CD is currently in production phase and is all set to drop on the 5th of July. More info to follow soon. The 5th of July is more than just the launch date for the new DFHF album though....the experienced live performer will also be opening up the Subliminal Impulse electronic music festival in Manchester;s Northen Quarter that afternoon. So I guess you could call it an album launch of sorts. Get on down for a special performance if you're in the area.

At the end of July, we present our first ever split EP featuring label stalwarts, Devras Plexi and Justin Case. A meshing together of two of the most idiosyncratic musical minds on our roster. This one is sure to be dripping in cosmic textures and strange rhythms. One not to be missed.
Justin Case will also be providing our July podcast which, if going by last years mix, promises to be another fascinating affair.
July also sees the return of our epic Headroom mix series. We're taking it back to where it all began and have invited the artist formerly known as "International Debris" back for a mammoth mix session. Ross Baker, now working under the name "Enofa" kick started the Headroom series back in late 2015 with his otherworldly "Dream Machine" collection.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
August sees us celebrate our 4th anniversary as a label and we're marking the occasion with an extravaganza in the form of our '0141' compilation. The extensive album will consist purely of Glaswegian producers. Some of whom you will be familiar with from previous releases plus a host of new and exciting local talent. '0141' is open to any electronic producers in Glasgow. And although due to high submission numbers so far, we can't guarantee artists a spot on the release, we can guarantee that every track will be considered. All the tracks submitted so far have been put aside into a special pool of music and the final tracklisting will be decided and chosen by three Bricolage members at the beginning of August. Submissions are open till the end of July and details can be found here.

Bricolage : Podcast Round Up For 2018
2018 was another eclectic year on the mix front. We've been privileged to both receive and share some outstanding musical journeys from a range of revered selectors and artists.
JANUARY
Loui Cleghorn (NYE Live Set)
We started off the year with an exclusive set from Loui Cleghorn. Recorded live at the Tribal Pulse NYE party in Glasgow, it sees him navigate through a bunch of his own material and take the listener on an absorbing trip.
FEBRUARY
Rain
The music obssessed Russian selector, Rain flirts effortlessly between ambient and DnB when it comes to mixes. He provided us a stunning DnB mix back in 2017 so decided to indulge his quieter side in 2018 and carefully build an ambient cloud to lay our head on. Soothing from first to last.
MARCH
futurendeavours
Vivid and mangled electronica from the enigmatic Glasgow duo. This session showcases some of their favourite influences with a few of their own releases on Bricolage. Also includes an exclusive play of an as-yet-still unreleased epic they cooked up especially for the mix.
APRIL
Leit Motif
We nudged into spring time with Leit Motif and a selection of deep dub techno, entrancing world electronica and crepuscular, gliding, ambient material.
MAY
Dark Fidelity HiFi (Live set for RSD 2018)
This was the chance to immerse yourself in the captivating and hypnotic sounds of the Dark Fidelity HiFi live experience. A short but sweet RSD 2018 live set recorded at 'Reel Around The Fountain' record store in Manchester.
JUNE
Arran Trax
A robust and rugged hour that combines Detroit Techno with surging electro and waves of acid from Arran Trax. Complex and exciting grooves from the Scottish producer.
JULY
Fragile X
Label boss Fragile X went down the effervescent route for this summer mix. Bubbling chimes, atmospheric cuts and warm, colourful soundscapes. One for the long summer nights.
AUGUST
Justin Case
Bricolage newcomer Justin Case brewed up an inventive concoction of sounds that would shine on a light on some of his biggest influences. An hour of twitchy and peculiar, cosmic electronica and celestial house music.
SEPTEMBER
Daniel Katinsky
A guest mix from Glasgow native Daniel Katinsky that drifts between murky and experimental structures and bold sound design. A true headphone journey full of fractured rhythms and dynamic noise.
OCTOBER
Sceadu
Dense and layered electro, techno and dub from the mysterious German. Futuristic ambience helps break up the chaos among the deep bass rumblings. We still believe that this is the only mix of 2018 that you'll be able to hear Dusty Springfield transition into Underground Resistance....
NOVEMBER
R.U.R.
A guest mix full of hard hitting techno with a dystopian twist. Full of heavy characteristics but never reaching the point of extremity. A danceable wall of sound, if you like.
DECEMBER
Amunraja
A sublime guest mix born of shamanism from Amunraja to round out the year. Warm bass, laid back tribal vibes and deep psydub that envelopes the listener. Put this on and let yourself drift into another dimension.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It wouldn't be a round up of mixes without mentioning our longform mix series, "Headroom". We only had three sessions this year. But they were three cultivated and stunning musical stories.
JANUARY
Kinoko
We had a special guest session from Hohm Productions resident, Kinoko, who pieced together a beautiful sound montage of ethereal ambient and misty deep house.
MARCH
Supply Fi
This session acted as a precursor of sorts to the tender and organic "...And We Become One With The Earth" EP. His two hour Headroom saw him bring together sounds from his friends and peers in a genre bending journe full of curious and dreamlike electronica.
NOVEMBER
Lying Cat
A grain and lo-fi affair from the Lying Cat. A tenebrous excursion through the slightly more disconcerted side of the music spectrum. It's awash with skewered beats, brittle textures and perfectly placed field recordings. It almost plays out like a film if you let it....
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A massive thank you goes out to all the people who gave their time to us in 2018. Artists and listeners alike.

Bricolage : Release Round Up For 2018
We'd like to think that 2018 was another consistent year on the release front here at Bricolage. 7 EP's and a huge anniversary compilation. We put out some truly fantastic music from a few label stalwarts whilst also welcoming exciting contributions from some new names.
JANUARY
futurendeavours "Yautja Blood"
A sample heavy, broken beat, sci fi themed soundcape. Both complex and hypnotic. These kind of epics are fast becoming a regular occurence from the local duo, futurendeavours. They don't release a lot but when they do, we know we're getting something big.
FEBRUARY
Menopausal Hound Dog "Audible Smote"
Angular electronics and finely sculpted, idiosyncratic, tones and beats from the Manchester based MHD.
MARCH
Devras Plexi "frequent inspirational chore"
A true audio kaleidoscope from one of the most unique producers on our roster, Devras Plexi. Prismatic, glitchy and extremely accessible IDM and ambient flavours galore. In September we re-released a bulked up version of the EP featuring extra tracks that included a stunning remix from Lo-Jacker.
APRIL
Supply Fi "...And We Become One With The Earth"
Shimmering, organic, ambient electronica from Supply Fi as he allows his natural songwriting ability to shine through on a truly expressive and balanced release.
JUNE
Arran Trax "Morgenlicht"
Four slabs of hybrid electro/acid from an exceptionally creative mind. Hamburg based production whizz, Arran Trax, calls on raw analogue power and warm acid as he puts his own spin on the classic old school Detroit vibe. Fuzzy and extremely danceable sounds.
JULY
Justin Case "You Matter!"
As far as debut releases go, label newcomer, Justin Case dropped what can only be described as a brain melting opening statement of intent. "You Matter!" was unconventional from the get go. Crunchy, abstract. elastic and positively vibrant. The perfect way to introduce yourself to the musical world.
AUGUST
VA "Retcon"
Our most expansive and adventurous project to date was "Retcon". A gargantuan compilation that offered up creations from 20 distinct producers from far and wide as well as closer to home. The sounds on show cater to all manners of the electronic spectrum. As always, we'd like to think there's something for everyone inside the maze of "Retcon".
NOVEMBER
Lying Cat "Lying Cat"
We rounded off the year with a release from the mysterious "Lying Cat". This anonymous UK based producer casts up a fragmented and hazy spell full of absorbing and reflective ingredients. Experimental in nature with a beautiful and nostalgic narrative that runs throughout.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A big heartfelt thank you goes out to all the artists who helped shape our year. Your time, talents and commitment are appreciated more than we could ever express.

In The Loop : Episode 31
Our latest episode once again of In The Loop lends an ear to what a few artists from our roster have been upto recently....
CREST OF THE SYNDICATE
Crisp drums paired with intricate and soft melodies that drift by on a cloud of floating synths on "Daydreaming". A wonderful summer tinged track to brighten up the dark winter nights.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
JUSTIN CASE
Patience is key on this new track from Justin Case. The ambient progression and slow build up pays off as "Ayr" gradually morphs in and out of acid basslines, IDM sensibilities and broken beat rhythms that are becoming an integral part of the maverick producers arsenal.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ALL BUTTONS IN
"Polara 147" is a slice of dub infused glitch from the ever prolific, ABI. Industrial undertones and menacing beats that collapse into an ambient interlude before resurfacing....
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
COLAB
"Under The Bridge" starts with gentle keys before some field recordings glide into view and create space for some atmospheric synth work that create a serene mood dripping with that nostalgia element that Colab has down to a tee.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GREVUSANJL
"Bruno's Ghost" is a haunting piece of cinematic electronica. A tale of two abstract styles coming together as one. Part serenading tones and part twisted bass and marauding percs. A great spectre like combination.

In The Loop : Episode 29

First off there's two reviews on our massive anniversary compilation from I Heart Noise and Discovery Music, respectively. We extend massive gratitude to both platforms for their time and efforts.
"Honestly there are no filler tracks here which is certainly saying something for a compilation that is 20 tracks deep. This was clearly put together with intense care and attention to detail and it’s success is obvious within every track."
Read the full "I Heart Noise" review of the compilation here.
"Each track is its own unique avenue of electronic music, covering a massive breadth and depth of the unexplored corners of this genre."

It's a constantly twitching journey through all kinds of peculiar and cosmic electronica selections that twist and turn through musical avenues containing bright and celestial tracks with bold EQ and tempo shifts throughout. It makes for a truly unique and decidedly interesting listen.

Justin Case "You Matter!" (bc037)
Here at Bricolage we pride ourselves on unearthing musical gems in the form of under the radar producers and our latest diamond in the rough is as close to home as you can get....
Today we’re proud to unveil the debut EP from Glaswegian producer, Justin Case.
“You Matter!” is full of unconventional but digestible rhythms straight out of the mid 90’s golden era of IDM and electronic exploration. Crunchy beats and abstract structures battle for supremacy with off kilter bass and refined sound design. There’s elements of glitch, elastic ambient and breaks that bubble away under the surface but the main light that shines throughout all 4 tracks is that of a vibrant musical exuberance that is near impossible not to enjoy, with the closing track ‘Napali’ being a prime example of Justin’s colourful side and knack for stunning melodic hooks.
This is just the start of what is sure to be an exciting musical journey for this promising producer. Be sure to join him at the start of the trip.

Introducing : Justin Case
Here at Bricolage we pride ourselves on unearthing and sharing musical gems in the form of under the radar producers and our latest find is as close to home as you can get. We've been keeping this one under wraps for a wee while now but in just under 3 weeks time, on the 30th of July, we release the debut EP from Glaswegian producer, Justin Case. "You Matter" is brimming with a fresh and exciting musical exuberance.
Here's a bit about the man behind the sounds.....
"Having begun to acquire and experiment with his own gear, a Musician, Producer and electronic music enthusiast, Justin Case hails from Glasgow, Scotland. When not performing, he spends his time in the studio creating his own music. Justin has had a lot of time to develop his sound. For him, it’s all about mood and a deep, hypnotic groove… those tracks that get you tapping your feet and nodding your head without you realizing it, regardless of genre, tempo, style."
