Dark Fidelity Hi Fi "Found" (bc046)

"Found" is the brand new album from Manchester mastermind Rick Jones aka Dark Fidelity Hi Fi.

Thirteen glistening tracks recorded over a four month period of hyper creativity with some guests and friends helping to fill in the pieces of the musical puzzle. It's a thorough and enigmatic voyage that incorporates elements of ambient, glitch, dub, trip hop, IDM and breaks into a textural and hypnotic labyrinth.

This is an album that will provide new sounds with every listen.

It's deep, energetic, organic and ultimately enchanting music that comes decorated with luminous melody and floating percussion that sweep along perfectly throughout as the the album sprawls and reveals itself as whole.

"Found" is another string on the bow of a producer who's clearly in his creative prime as he adds this new album to an already insanely impressive body of work.

Available in digital form and Limited Edition CD from our bandcamp or below.

Bricolage Podcast #33 - Dark Fidelity Hi Fi (Live RSD 2018 set)

Our May podcast gives you the chance to immerse yourself in the captivating and hypnotic sounds of Dark Fidelity Hi Fi as we bring you an exclusive recording of his live set from this years Record Store Day festivities at Reel Around The Fountain Records in Manchester.

The full line up for the event involved DJ sets from Bricolage associate "Kinoko" and Bricolage label head "Fragile X" before the headline slot was filled by the machines and keyboards of DFHF.

Richard Jones, the main man behind DFHF, is clearly in his element when he performs in a live setting. It clearly gives him freedom and total control over every single noise that breaks through the system. This short but sweet half hour set sees him roam through his astonishing catalogue of sounds. It's littered with a range of shifting drum work, delicate keys, pad washes, mesmerising glitch patterns, soft and pulsing bass arrangements, attentive breakdowns and perfectly placed samples that are all sewn together with a craftmanship that is a joy to behold as he lets his 'no wave' style flourish. The set features new material from his latest album 'Gentle Static Flow' that was released on the 20th of April. Find a link for that release and the other relevant social media links below.

No Arrival "The Chance To Fail" (bc030)

“The Chance To Fail” is the new four track EP from Scottish producer ‘No Arrival’ that perfectly captures his distinct creative tendencies and experimental nature all in one release. From the opener “Earhart”, with its bobbing acidic sounds that intermingle with carefully designed rhythms, to the closing title track that slowly builds off a platform of slow, well placed percs before morphing into a sonic IDM whirlpool of drums and sound design. Inbetween those two tracks you have the ambient, tribal experimentation “Love Will” and the uniquely rhythmic “Savage Human” with it’s slow burning trip hop heart surrounded by a body of melodics and a beautifully placed vocal sample.

No Arrival has weaved together a union of diverse percussive elements and abstract, yet concise, electronic compositions. Miss this one at your pearl.

50. MINERVA

Minerva is the alias of Ariadne Vinerma. A young, female electronic producer of half Greek, half Hungarian heritage. She has released music on many local labels since her teens. Up until recent times her releases and sounds were focused on a heavier, industrial palette but as of late her style has taken a more experimental approach. The techno side of things still remains but there's a more playful and melodic edge to some of the tracks. This new direction is evident by the different stylings over on brand new "Minerva" Soundcloud page.

51. RA1N

Rain is the musical vehicle of 29 year old Alex from Russia. His output falls mainly under the drum n bass and ambient categories but he takes influence from a vast array of performers in the electronic world and beyond. Citing the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Chemical Brothers and Depeche Mode as just a few of his most cherished childhood vinyl memories. His taste in drum n bass is also exquisite with artists such as London Elektricity, Fanu, Sunchase and Electrosoul System name dropped among his favourites. For Alex, it's not just making his own music that's a hobby but also creating stories through his popular mixes. His "Ambient Hour" episodes on Mixcloud are full to the brim with dowtempo and chilled out drum n bass gems.

6. SUBSEQUENT

Hailing from the musically diverse Dutch city of Rotterdam, Subsequent is a DJ and producer that falls under no set genre. His music could be described as dub, breakbeats, ambient, abstract, trip hop among many more styles. He's always been an obsessive record collector but had no real ambition to start DJing until the turn of the new millennium when a friend asked him to fill in a set for him. From there it snowballed to lots of live gigs and eventually production of his own tracks. He has released albums on Berlin label Nonine recordings under his own name and also with his collaboration project " Sqaramouche".
