Dark Fidelity Hi Fi "Found" (bc046)
"Found" is the brand new album from Manchester mastermind Rick Jones aka Dark Fidelity Hi Fi.
Thirteen glistening tracks recorded over a four month period of hyper creativity with some guests and friends helping to fill in the pieces of the musical puzzle. It's a thorough and enigmatic voyage that incorporates elements of ambient, glitch, dub, trip hop, IDM and breaks into a textural and hypnotic labyrinth.
This is an album that will provide new sounds with every listen.
It's deep, energetic, organic and ultimately enchanting music that comes decorated with luminous melody and floating percussion that sweep along perfectly throughout as the the album sprawls and reveals itself as whole.
"Found" is another string on the bow of a producer who's clearly in his creative prime as he adds this new album to an already insanely impressive body of work.
Available in digital form and Limited Edition CD from our bandcamp or below.

We conclude 2018 with a sublime guest mix from Amunraja. The Shamanscape Records boss has provided a a showcase of what he calls 'sacred bass'.
Amunraja is born of Shamanism and Buddhism and explores the dimensions and frequential worlds that surround us.
This is a session brimming with warm bass tones, deep and layered melodies, psychedelic patterns, laid back tribal vibes and some truly crystalline production work. This is an hour of sounds that will envelope you and transport you to another dimension.

In The Loop : Episode 32
ITL EP 32 features some new sounds from our alumni and roster.....
EQUAL PARTS
A short but sweet dollop of ambience from the Glaswegian. Subtle bass, clicks n cuts and interesting sound design layers.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SCEADU
A four to the floor hybrid that takes on the dubbier side of techno infused with house sensibilities from the man in the shadows, Sceadu. We have the debut EP from the Berlin based producer dropping next month on Bricolage. He's all set to showcase his take on what the future sounds like....
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MUTE BRANCHES
"War Tundra" has that signature Mute Branches tone flowing throughout its short duration. An assembly of strange and creaking timbres that all fit together perfectly into a vivid experimental soundscape.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SULEVIA
The work of Sulevia stands alone in the electronic field. "Passion" is no different. The Austrian producer has created possibly her finest work yet. Undefinable music that flirts with bass music, trip hop, world music and techno. Peculiar chord progressions, faint voices, drifting pads and gristly beats.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ENOFA
Enofa (fka International Debris) has a tremendous back catalogue full of all sorts of engaging material (under many guises) from ambient to vaporwave and everything else in between. Here on new release "Melkur" the UK producer takes a trip through the forest....

In The Loop : Episode 31
Our latest episode once again of In The Loop lends an ear to what a few artists from our roster have been upto recently....
CREST OF THE SYNDICATE
Crisp drums paired with intricate and soft melodies that drift by on a cloud of floating synths on "Daydreaming". A wonderful summer tinged track to brighten up the dark winter nights.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
JUSTIN CASE
Patience is key on this new track from Justin Case. The ambient progression and slow build up pays off as "Ayr" gradually morphs in and out of acid basslines, IDM sensibilities and broken beat rhythms that are becoming an integral part of the maverick producers arsenal.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ALL BUTTONS IN
"Polara 147" is a slice of dub infused glitch from the ever prolific, ABI. Industrial undertones and menacing beats that collapse into an ambient interlude before resurfacing....
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
COLAB
"Under The Bridge" starts with gentle keys before some field recordings glide into view and create space for some atmospheric synth work that create a serene mood dripping with that nostalgia element that Colab has down to a tee.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GREVUSANJL
"Bruno's Ghost" is a haunting piece of cinematic electronica. A tale of two abstract styles coming together as one. Part serenading tones and part twisted bass and marauding percs. A great spectre like combination.

Bricolage Podcast #38 : Sceadu
Sceadu has appeared briefly from the shadows to take the controls for our October podcast. The mysterious German artist has provided a dense mixture of Detroit Techno, electro and dub techno. Mechanical patterns, space signals, futuristic ambience and deep bass rumblings throughout. The session is mixed as a 50/50 split of vinyl and digital and spans an almost 30 year timeline from the classic early nineties era through to more current releases from the newer breed. There’s a curve ball thrown in for good measure along the way....
You can stream the mix below or at our mixcloud.

Bricolage Podcast #32 : Leit Motif
Our April podcast sees Leit Motif nudge us into springtime with a selection of downtempo treasures from his expansive collection of sounds. Crepuscular ambient tones, drones and spectral voices slowly circulate into haunting sound design before the tempo rises with some deep pulsing bass and rich, bubbling, dub techno frameworks and onto some entrancing world electronica that glides before giving way to a Glasgow field recording excerpt from Leit Motif himself to round things off.
“It is spring again. The earth is like a child that knows poems by heart.”

Bricolage (Kedvenceim)
The second installment of our anniversary mixes comes from our very own Minerva. The Hungarian producer has put together some of her favourite experimental sounds from the labels back catalogue. You can expect a broad range of IDM, broken beats and electronica as she trawls through two years worth of unique productions. Recommended Sunday night listening.
Here's what she had to say:
"Bricolage (Kedvenceim) = Bricolage (My Favourites)
My favourite music label Bricolage had 2nd birthday last month and to celebrate for them I make together a mix of some of most innovating tracks from their collection. Always exciting and interesting sounds within! Lots of complexity! Some of these music can be hard to mix together but I do my best and I think is ok :)
I have lots of love for all these guys and I am thankful to be part of this Glasgow crew "

Bricolage Podcast #21 : Subsequent
Exactly 18 months to the day since his first Bricolage podcast back in November 2015, today, sees the proficient Dutch selector Subsequent return to the front line for another trek through his collection of mesmerizing electronic music. There's a combination of minimalistic but powerful compositions layered over each other in a steely, broken environment of industrial rumblings and field recordings. Points of abstract tension play out alongside moments of hazy charm and hypnotic beats. Add all that to a "twist" at the end and you've got a creative and borderline avant garde session that will transfix and transport the listener to another portal. Welcome back to the world of Subsequent.

Figurate "There Are Places Other Than Here" (bc023)
"There Are Places Other Than Here", the debut EP from Figurate, derives its subliminal influences from the farthest reaches of the neo noir/cyberpunk movie genres and evolves them into three conceptual works that overarch into themes of AI and character recognition. There's the odd minimalistic sample that helps to set the tone but it's mainly the sounds that create the overall mood. The music itself joins the dots between dub and glitch. While shoegaze effects and fragmented percussion work together with the dub and glitch styles over the course of the three tracks to assist in the construction of intriguing micro mechanical, chrome, ambient backdrops that provide the listener with some unique experimental panoramic dubscapes.

In The Loop : Episode 16
Episode 16 of "In The Loop" has a look at the first half of artists from our most recent compilation release, Volume 4. The post covers ground on some of their recent work and what the future has in store.
First up is Dark Fidelity Hi Fi. Just prior to featuring on the Bricolage compilation, DFHF released the track "Third Eye Projections". A spiraling, glitched out dub effort that's awash with neat melodies and percussion. Check out the anti-corporate visual accompaniment below the track and be sure to pop over to the DFHF bandcamp if you want a copy.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The last track to appear on the Bedless Bones soundcloud page was "Foreign Blood Heat", which is the track featured on the Bricolage release but a further browse through the profile will throw up some dark, vocal infused electronics that are a treat for any industrial heads. Our personal favourite is the demo of "Wicked Sprouts" which you can listen to below.
Did you know that, Kadri Sammel, the girl behind the Bedless Bones project is also a member of long running Estonian industrial band "Forgotten Sunrise"? The duos most recent release was the single "Guardian Curtains", which you can find over on their bandcamp.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ix Prospectum has been gearing up for his upcoming full length album release on Bricolage in January by unveiling some of the tracks that are set to make the cut. Over on his Soundcloud page you'll find a plethora of unearthed, wonderfully scatterbrained gems including the epic "Disable It" and the jittery ambiance of "I Want Changed Myself".
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Roman Fahls latest offering is the ambient techno excursion, "Iberia". It's yet more flawless production work from a producer clearly on top of his game at the moment. A precise build up slowly lets a gorgeous vocal bleed though before a thumping kick drum take over followed soon after by more intricate percussion. A classic piece of work.
Our first Bricolage podcast of 2017 will be courtesy of Roman Fahls and you can check out a link to a recent mix of his below to get you in the mood.
Roman Fahls - Osaker mixtape
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guido has recently been teasing his listeners with a trio of short snippets and previews over on his Soundcloud page.
Scroll a little further down his songs and you'll find "Just A Dream". An electronic foray into dancefloor subconsciousness. A beautiful introduction is promptly backed up with solid percs and and wavy, catchy sequences that bounce playfully along. A track that's equally at home in your headphones as it is in the club.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kold47 only has a handful of tracks online with uncompromising lo-fi techno being his weapon of choice. Any fans of his "Koldstruktion" track that appeared on our compilation will lap up that distinct raw, bass throbbing feel of his latest track "Untitled". No nonsense, straight off the bat pounding techno rhythms.
"Sectarian Religions", a slighty older track, sees the producer turn the acid charm offensive up to 10 with dark pads and drums nestling in at the back of a vibrating but solid acid line.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Greek/Hungarian producer Minerva just recently uploaded a fresh slab of fizzing beats and resonating patterns in the form of new track "The Sultans Robe". Drawing on influences including breaks, trance and techno the drum work is a hybrid effort that crosses over many genres with substantial style. Never letting up from it's 140bpm until the last second.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Be sure to tune into the blog over the weekend for the second part of our In The Loop special that looks at what the second half of Volume 4 have been up to recently.
And of course, if you haven't already then be sure to head on over to our bandcamp and grab your copy of the latest compilation.

Introducing The Collective 48 - 51
48. ROMAN FAHLS

Intricately weaving together influences of techno and ambient electronic music, Roman Fahls works to create a sound that generates as much pleasure on headphones as it does on the dancefloor. His is music for the mind and feet.

49. DARK FIDELITY HI FI

DFHF are underground, Mancunian record producer, Rick Jones, and several guest players. The DFHF style incorporates mixing and recording all formats of sound from a varied selection such as 90's loungecore to dark trap and dub to lofi groove all with absorbing and curious textures. Each track stands out and provides an individual, engaging experience. The debut album "Dub Tests and Sky Pop Transmissions" was released last year on DIY Manchester label, Soundwaves Here We Come followed by a 6 track EP this year, "No Wave Control Manual". DFHF are settling into somewhat of a creative roll and we're glad to have them continue regular output as part of the new compilation.

50. MINERVA

Minerva is the alias of Ariadne Vinerma. A young, female electronic producer of half Greek, half Hungarian heritage. She has released music on many local labels since her teens. Up until recent times her releases and sounds were focused on a heavier, industrial palette but as of late her style has taken a more experimental approach. The techno side of things still remains but there's a more playful and melodic edge to some of the tracks. This new direction is evident by the different stylings over on brand new "Minerva" Soundcloud page.
Minerva (Soundcloud)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
51. RA1N

Rain is the musical vehicle of 29 year old Alex from Russia. His output falls mainly under the drum n bass and ambient categories but he takes influence from a vast array of performers in the electronic world and beyond. Citing the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Chemical Brothers and Depeche Mode as just a few of his most cherished childhood vinyl memories. His taste in drum n bass is also exquisite with artists such as London Elektricity, Fanu, Sunchase and Electrosoul System name dropped among his favourites. For Alex, it's not just making his own music that's a hobby but also creating stories through his popular mixes. His "Ambient Hour" episodes on Mixcloud are full to the brim with dowtempo and chilled out drum n bass gems.

Introducing The Collective 45-47
45. OCTAVIA BANNON-CLARK

Octavia Bannon-Clark has a body of work on Soundcloud and beyond that marks her work out as pretty much undefinable. Influences that range far and wide have culminated in a palette of sounds that range from 80s style synthpop happenings, breakbeat patterns, glitch infested tracks, acid, weird samples and more. All backed up with a ridiculously keen ear for making catchy melodies and the knowledge of how to use them.
Octavia Bannon-Clark (Soundcloud)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
46. FIGURATE

Figurate is the pseudonym of a secretive glitch experimentalist. His sounds are a strange and intriguing brew of granular drum work among a slew of processed textures soaked in all kinds of reverb. There's a near dystopian atmosphere to his tracks that serve the percussion well and create small sonic landscapes for the listener to get lost in.
Figurate (Soundcloud)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
47. MISTER LEFT

Mister Left is an up and coming electronic producer located in Manchester. He specializes in razor sharp, slightly dark electronica with more than a hint of techno. He's just starting off on his journey into the world of making music and we're happy to be able to give him a platform for his sounds here at Bricolage.

futurendeavours "Fifteen Minutes Of Fame" (bc019)
"futurendeavours" debut release on Bricolage sees the duo hit the ground running with their electronic opus "Fifteen Minutes Of Fame". A melting pot of ever evolving rhythms, layered synth work, tough melodics and carefully selected loops. It's a concoction full of heavy, driving house music origins, sharp techno, minimalistic acid and warped samples. All of those elements fused together, through part analogue work and part digital methods, create a thrilling collision of some very different musical worlds. The end product is a skewered electronic landscape with a knowing nod to the past and one foot firmly in the future.

Bricolage Podcast #8 : Fragile X
Label head Fragile X is back on podcast duty this month. It's another sonically aesthetic mix that twists and turns it's way through your eardrums. It kicks off with an array of unobtrusive sounds and layers that fuse elements of ambient, progressive breaks and futuristic sounds before diving off the deep end and into some faster paced breakbeats and complex rhythms with a darker tone. The sonic and experimental side of things remains at the forefront for the duration with the drops of ambience and unique breakdowns remaining littered throughout creating a slightly frenetic but always harmonious second half of the mix that slides and swerves among all sorts of dynamic textures. The result is an expansive mix that provides an introspective into the eclectic world of electronic music.

BRICOLAGE : VA "The Longest Night" Winter Solstice Compilation (bc005)
The Winter Solstice occurs little more than a week away from now on the 22nd of December.
The shortest day and the longest night of the year where the dark almost completely takes over the light and winter truly arrives. Here at Bricolage we're providing an early Christmas present, in the form of our own personal solstice soundtrack, from us to you. Back in November I asked the artists on the label if they would like to encapsulate, in music, what the solstice means to them. The results are nothing short of beautiful. 11 different tracks created specifically for the yearly phenomenon. It's free download at our bandcamp as always. There's a track by track breakdown below and some streaming links to bandcamp and soundcloud.
You can stream a preview a minute or so of each track from our our soundcloud below.
1. Liapei - If You Asked
Liapei start off the compilation with crunchy winter footprints, chirping birds and a beautiful solstice inspired spoken word piece. Warm synths soon appear alongside a calming drum track. The youthful Glasgow accent makes this track all the more poignant. The perfect opening track.
2. Sleep Maps - The Brief Sun
Another Sleep Maps track, another epic. "The Brief Sun" picks up the pace nicely with bright melodies, resonating guitars, rumbling bass and precision drums that throw up images of the low December morning sun.
3. Fragile X - Yalda
"Yalda" is an Eastern tinged instrumental guitar piece with it's roots firmly in lo-fi shoegaze. Swathed in echo and delay, the guitars simmer along gently and are paired with swirling melodious feedback remains to create a gentle winter calling. It's worth noting that "Yalda" is the Iranian term for the solstice, where families and friends come together to eat, drink and read poetry. It's a fitting title.
4. Mute Branches - (I'm Dreaming Of A ) Severe Weather Warning
A woozy and dreamy take on the solstice with chopped up vocal samples, experimental sounds and beautifully dazed sounding effects. The layers keep building in this intricate instrumental.
5. Chairman Cow - Dark Morning
Perfectly picked guitar notes and some flashing chords give way to a booming bass that has a dance hall feel. It's winter reggae! A wonderfully performed dub infused rhythm section and one hell of a hook on the most feel good track on the album.
6. International Debris - Daylight Sector 9999 [Further Verification Required]
A mysterious, spaced out number from our very own expert in that particular field. It's progressive keys are hypnotic and come across as almost symphonic. There's a mystical sounding element throughout that only serves to add to the enigmatic vibe.
7. Roy Or Bison? - Night Vision
An eerie hum and a thundering bell start off the darkest track on the compilation. Primal noises and atmospherics flutter their way in and out for the duration. Shadowy drones, murky electronic sounds and a load of tenebrous effects round off this ghostly track. Don't listen to it alone in the dark.
8. Jazzdefector - The Edge Of A Winters Night
A stunning drone based effort that drifts along flawlessly. Full of wonderful textures and emotion, it's a soaring and grand ode to the longest night of the year.
9. Microvolt - A Calm Place (For Jules)
This ambient track provides you with breathing space. It's a quietly vast piece that transports the listener to a very comfortable place. The sounds have been expertly sculptured and restrained to the absolute optimum level. A slow burner that you'll never want to end.
10. B-Side Boy - P*ssholes In The Snow
B-Side Boy is a new name on the collective. He's another pseudonym of the aforementioned Chairman Cow. Here, the guitar is once again his main weapon of choice but that's not all.....it starts off a little more melancholic than "Dark Morning" before taking a sharp turn into harmonica and glockenspiel based territories. It's by far and away the most Christmas type song on the release and the compilation is all the better for it. Someone get the mince pies!
11. Merriman's Ghost - The Shortest Day
A beat wanders along nicely, the atmospherics fade in and out in perfect harmony and then it lifts off with delayed guitars that provide a thermal glow. It's an introspective and poetic piece of music. Heartfelt and ethereal. A fitting ending to the compilation.
Major thanks go out to all the artists involved in making the release possible.

Part 2 of our introductions and another 3 acts for you to meet.
4. LIAPEI

LIAPEI are a Glasgow based trio that excel in creating masterful ambient soundscapes. Sometimes instrumental and sometimes with added spoken word.
