Bricolage Podcast #49 : Ty Lumnus

Our September podcast sees us edge ever nearer to our landmark 50th episode and to bring us that step closer we're offering up a weird and wonderful selection from Ty Lumnus. This podcast sees the Glaswegian mix and compile his first ever podcast but, on listening in, you'd never guess. This mix gives an insight into what kinda of sounds and mood drive the producer and his own creative tendencies. If the name looks familiar then you may notice that it's an anagram of "Ly Tumnus"....

Ly Tumnus just featured on our '0141' compilation last week with his track 'X' from 2016. Ly Tumnus is an old skin, shedded and grown anew into Ty Lumnus. You can expect to hear a lot more under that name in the coming weeks with his debut EP "Decompression" releasing on the label on the 28th of  this month. Previews and snippets coming soon. Until then, delve deep into this assemblage of consummate ambient tones and first rate electronica.

Bricolage Podcast #32 : Leit Motif

Our April podcast sees Leit Motif nudge us into springtime with a selection of downtempo treasures from his expansive collection of sounds. Crepuscular ambient tones, drones and spectral voices slowly circulate into haunting sound design before the tempo rises with some deep pulsing bass and rich, bubbling, dub techno frameworks and onto some entrancing world electronica that glides before giving way to a Glasgow field recording excerpt from Leit Motif himself to round things off.

Blue Notes "Tetrahedron" (bc031)

We’re proud to be able to unveil our final release of 2017 in the form of the full length Bricolage debut from Blue Notes. On “Tetrahedron” the young Glaswegian producer has cooked up a shimmering set of sounds that effortlessly straddle the thin line between ambient and IDM. Emotive melodies and soothing pads mixed with complex and glitchy beats are the calling card, and while the main focus may be on the sculpting of ethereal moods, the overall product showcases both the accessible and the experimental edges of the young production whizz as he carries on slowly carving out that signature Blue Notes sound.

He's also taken the opportunity of a full length album to formally introduce his side project, “C4", to the world with two sharp and jagged, more aggressive natured, tracks that round off the album and give off an indication of the direction he might be turning his creative skills towards.

Bricolage Podcast #27 : Blue Notes

Our November podcast is one with a twist, it comes not as a mix of influences, selections or favourite tracks but this time as an album preview of sorts.

On the 11th of December we release the full length album, "Tetrahedron" from Glasgow based producer, Blue Notes. It's our final release of 2017 and we're set to round out the year in fine style with 12 tracks of true sonic diversity that cover ground in the fields of IDM, ambient, rhythmic glitches, drum n bass and industrial leftfield soundscapes.

So, with 4 weeks until the release date, Blue Notes is sharing a sneak preview of what's in store come next month in the form of this exclusive "Tetrahedron" preview. It's worth noting that Blue Notes is taking the opportunity of this full length album to introduce his side project "C4" properly to the world and features two tracks from that alias.

We don't want to give too much away just yet so you'll find a bunch of new and exciting works in this session and you'll need to wait for the rest......

Ix Prospectum : Telescope (Audio/Visual)

We're back on the audio/visual trail for the second time in a week and this time it's for Ix Prospectum and his hypnotic track "Telescope". Once again, Digi Aye have taken stock footage and Creative Commons art pieces and blended them together with the work of visual design specialist, Mike Winklemann to create a shimmering, transfixing spectacle full of silver spheres, electric movements and digital landscapes.

Bricolage Podcast #18 : Roman Fahls

Roman Fahls is behind the decks for our February podcast with a first rate selection of tracks that flourish together perfectly from first note to last. It travels through the realms of electronic music with aplomb. There's prime cuts of ambient, gritty techno and woozy, probing electronics at every corner. It's full of slowly bruising broken beats and inventive sounds that delicately flesh themselves out into part of the journey. Drifting between moments of serenity to stormy, brooding moods and back again. All that with a few upbeat melodies and an electro thumper jarred into the middle for good effect insures a thrilling listen in the latest of our mix sessions. One to get lost in.

Ix Prospectum "First Step" (bc024)

The "First Step" album from, Berlin based producer, Ix Prospectum is, at its heart, coarsing with experimental glitch ideology and sonic IDM structures that are carefully counter balanced with industrialised ambient frameworks. And while it's definitely one for modern experimentalists, it also has its moments of alternative dance sensibility. With glimpses of melodies creeping alongside spider like percussive elements. The overall release veers through a vortex of all different types of musical combinations. Never once settling on one particular sound. Ambient techno and glitch sounds take the lead but are partnered by a merger of various other electronic styles along the way. 

"First Step", like the man behind it, will more than reward patient listeners.
