Devras Plexi "frequent inspirational chore" (bc034)

We’ve long sought after a stand-alone release from the prodigious Devras Plexi here at Bricolage and today we get our wish with a six track audio kaleidoscope in the shape of his new “frequent inspirational chore” EP.

It’s a bright and complex body of work that combines a colourful blend of prismatic textures that are slowly becoming symbolic to the stimulating productions of the Austin native. This EP sees him merge his distinctive tones and sound palettes together with glitchy elements and intricate, shifting melodic patterns. Ever morphing beats and that sense of dreamlike warmth, that he so often delivers with ease, take the sounds to another level as we get a glimpse into the world of an ambitious and colourful mind.

Spring 2018

We’ve got a busy 6 weeks or so coming up at Bricolage with lots of fantastic sounds coming your way in the form of new releases, mixes and a remix competition.

We start off the busy schedule with our latest Headroom session this coming Sunday (18th) from the latest addition to our roster, Supply Fi. The US based producer has been a staple of the online underground scene for years now and has slowly handcrafted his own distinct style when it comes to production and mixing. His first foray into the Headroom world promises to be a spectacularly warped and beautiful episode. He follows up that incoming mix with an EP release on Bricolage at the end of April that will be sure to give you an insight into a truly intriguing musical mind.

Find some of his previous work on his
Soundcloud and be sure to check out the Rumourtone mixcloud account for a slew of mixes curated by the man himself.

A fortnight from tonight we’ll be releasing an EP from an artist that we’ve had our heart set on for a long, long time. Devras Plexi is a one of those rare undefinable artists that pulls together all sorts of influences and concocts them in his own manner to create a musical potion that is uniquely standalone in what can be, too often, the clogged and sometimes banal world of electronic music.
Ever since his Bricolage debut track “Libre” last summer we’ve been eager to have a full release to bring you and this month we have our wish.

Check out his “Sentient Beats” album from earlier this year while you wait.

Our April podcast will see ambient specialist Leit Motif return for mixing duties. Inbetween two EP releases on Bricolage (‘Supine’ and ‘Till We Have Faces’ respectively) he provided us with a stunning dreamlike and translucent Headroom session back in the summer of 2016. His newest podcast is guaranteed to be another intricate horizontal excursion that you won’t want to miss.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The second week in April will see us launch our third Bricolage remix competition. Our previous competitions for Loui Cleghorn and Oscurito have thrown up some engaging and interesting reworks and the latest competition for, Hamburg based, Scottish producer Arran Trax promises more of the same.

Arran Trax will be releasing his debut Bricolage EP at the end of June this year. It’s all set to be a maelstrom of acid/electro chaos and will feature the track, ‘Morgenlicht’. That particular track will be the feature of the remix competition and we’ll be revealing more details and the track stems soon.
Tuck into the track below ahead of the remix launch.

Bricolage Podcast #31 : futurendeavours

Our March session see Glasgow duo, futurendeavours, return to the label for podcast duties. Their first mix from August 2016 was a strange brew of mangled electronics that veered down various stylistic paths. This new session maintains those vivid and hybrid electronica values but with a more laidback approach and downtempo side seeping in towards the finale. Their monster ‘Yautja Blood’ release from January is also featured here alongside their 2017 collaboration with Figurate, ‘Pale Blue Dot’. As an extra treat there’s also an exclusive listen to an unreleased epic broken beat number from the enigmatic duo themselves.

You can stream the mix below or at our mixcloud.

(I'm Dreaming Of A) Severe Weather Warning

The last few days has seen most of the UK hit by an unprecedented snow storm and so it seems the dreams of one our artists, Mute Branches, may have came true.....

Back in winter 2015 we released a compilation titled “The Longest Night”. For that specific release we asked some of our roster to produce a track that personified what the winter solstice meant to them. James Cresswell aka Mute Branches contribution was “(I’m Dreaming Of A) Severe Weather Warning”. That track seems relevant today given the current weather circumstances so we’ve decided to give the track its own little visual of sorts with a timelapse walk through a snow soaked Glasgow Green and the Gorbals streets....
